Merav Mack is a research fellow at Historisches Seminar Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz. Following her publication Jerusalem: City of the Book (Yale University Press, 2019) she is now engaged in a new project: Jerusalem’s Book Production: 900-1500. Based on previously unknown corpus of nearly 300 manuscripts she is examining relationships between individuals and communities in Jerusalem across religious and cultural boundaries. In this project she will be addressing questions of intellectual, cultural and social networking in the urban setting of a medieval city that had an unparalleled impact on the world’s history.
The research project is part of Thematic Area 3: Urban Densification.
